The singing bowl therapy

Die Klangschalen-Therapie

Singing bowl therapy, or sound healing, is a holistic practice that uses singing bowls to promote relaxation, reduce stress and increase overall well-being.

The therapy is based on the idea that the substances generated by these shells
Vibrations and sounds can have positive effects on the body, mind and soul.

Singing bowl therapy has its roots in ancient cultures, particularly in the Tibetan and Himalayan regions, where these bowls have been used in spiritual and healing practices for centuries.

This is how singing bowl therapy generally works:

  1. Singing Bowls: Singing bowls are typically made from metal alloys such as brass, copper or bronze. They are available in different sizes and designs. When you strike them or play them with a mallet, they produce rich and harmonious tones.
  2. Vibration and sound: The main principle of singing bowl therapy is that the vibrations and sounds produced by the singing bowls resonate with the body's energy centers (chakras) and can promote relaxation. The sounds are believed to help balance the body's energy flow and clear blockages.
  3. Session Setup: During a singing bowl therapy session, the therapist places the singing bowls on or near the body. The therapist then gently hits the bowls or uses a mallet to create sustained tones. The client lies down or sits comfortably and lets the vibrations work on them.
  4. Benefits: Proponents of singing bowl therapy claim that it can have various benefits including stress relief, relaxation, pain relief, improved sleep, improved mood, and a sense of inner harmony. Some also believe that therapy can have spiritual and emotional effects.
  5. Mindfulness and meditation: Singing bowl therapy is often used as a tool for mindfulness and meditation. The calming sounds and vibrations can help people enter a state of deep relaxation and heightened alertness.
  6. Holistic Approach: Singing bowl therapy is generally viewed as a complementary or alternative therapy. It is important to note that scientific research on its specific therapeutic effects is limited and its benefits may be more related to the relaxation response.

If you are interested in singing bowl therapy, it is advisable to seek out a trained and experienced therapist. The experience of sound and vibration can be very subjective, and what works for one person may not work for another. As with any alternative therapy, it is important to approach the treatment with an open mind
approach and contact a healthcare professional if you have any health concerns.

A trained therapist who is experienced despite her young age is Vivian Fortomaris, 20 years old and a trained singing bowl meditation leader. She completed her training in 2021 and has been offering singing bowl meditations and massages with singing bowls ever since.
In addition to weekly guided group meditations at her home, she also offers individual sessions with Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, crystal singing bowls, foot singing bowls and other instruments.

A session includes 45 minutes of sound, as well as a changing topic about which you will be informed before and after the sound. For example, individual chakras, aura cleansing, full moon, new moon, breathing exercises and many more.

Her personal experience is that her body awareness and awareness have increased as a result and she has become significantly more sensitive.
