The bone trumpet is a ritual wind instrument from Tibet that was once made of real bones and is now made of synthetic resin. The origin of such ceremonial instruments goes back to the time of the Bön tradition, the ancient animistic-shamanistic natural religion of Tibet. The bone trumpet was and is used in rituals dedicated to the Dharma protectors, rain and healing rituals and most importantly the practice of Chöd.
