Brass Shiva Nataraja statue. The color is created by applying two layers of varnish; First the statue is given a copper-colored coating and then a gold-colored coating.
The cosmic dance of Shiva Nataraja as king (raja) of dance (nata) is seen as a symbol of the universe that is constantly in motion. Shiva Nataraja is usually surrounded by an aura of flames, which on the one hand offers protection from all disturbing external influences, but on the other hand also the fire of destruction of the old, which creates space for the new and symbolizes the eternal cycle of existence.
