Amitabha or Amida is the most important Buddha of Amida Buddhism, which comes from China, Vietnam, Korea and Japan. Amitabha controls the western paradise, a state of consciousness called Sukhavati. Padmasambhava, an eighth-century Indian monk, brought Amitabha worship to Tibet and Nepal. In Mahayana Buddhism, Amithaba is one of the five Dhyani Buddhas. The qualities of Amithaba are the development of concentration, contentment and keen wisdom.
