Frangipani, also called temple flower or West Indian jasmine, is a tree or shrub with intensely fragrant flowers native to Asia and Southeast Asia. The frangipani tree can grow up to 5 meters high. In Asia, frangipani is considered a temple, ceremonial and sacrificial plant; on the Pacific Islands, its flowers are used to make leis, the traditional welcoming wreaths; in Bali, the flowers are used as festive headdresses. The frangipani flowers smell most strongly at night and the precious absolute is extracted from them
